our own feminismS – A queer feminist future lab (010)
The year-long programme Year of the Women* is launching a (queer) feminist lecture series where your political imagination comes in from the start: we will gather together to come up with concrete ideas and utopian visions for the future – because we want nothing less than a better life! We take inspiration from current queer feminist debates: what is their political and economic impact and how do they gain traction in society beyond feminist circles? In search for answers, we will trace feminist history, reactivate the roots of the women’s* movement and look to our feminist ancestors. We will also turn to spaces of feminist resistance in the here and now, always in search for relationships based in solidarity.
Over the course of 10 nights from april until december, Prof. Dr. Ulrike E. Auga will outline a radical queer feminist utopia in her interactive lecture series Queer feminist life and futurity. Tools for queer political imagination and activism from Killjoy to Cyborg.
Why are we still discussing the right over our own bodies? What is the role of collectives that attempt to handle care work and family accountability outside of gender roles and biological kinship? What collective structures do we need to realize such models? And what will come out of the travels to the future of sexuality_ies and genders that are currently under way in queer feminist labs, porn productions, and workshops offered by alternative sex shops?
We are dedicated to creating a space where people can network, talk politics, discuss, build solidarity and think together. This is a call to the rebels, the feminists by heart, and to those who are new to the debate and curious to learn. Let’s debate with one another, and not against one another. Let’s craft a (queer) feminist utopia together! The future is now!
